COLUMBIA, SC (August 6, 2012) – Wednesday night a Cross resident won $500,000 playing the Lottery and has yet to mention it to his wife.

The winner told lottery officials he left his wife sleeping in bed to drive to Columbia to cash in his winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket (7, 13, 16, 19, and 28). He plans to be home by lunch time to surprise her.

How will she react to the news?

“There is no telling,” he said.

The half-a-million dollars will pay off the couple’s house and buy both new vehicles.

Plans that should bring a smile to her face and keep her husband out of trouble.

“I’m her prize now,” he joked.

Paying the extra $1 for Power-Up multiplied his $100,000 top prize to $500,000.

The odds of winning $500,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 8,031,072.

For selling the claimed ticket, BD Food Mart in Cross received a commission of $5,000.
