Clover Wife Not Convinced Husband Won $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (July 10, 2012) – A lifelong resident of Clover has won $200,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.

“My wife doesn’t believe me,” he said.

While his wife was getting ready for work this morning, the retired winner was preparing to leave for Columbia to collect his Palmetto Cash 5 prize.

Following last night’s drawing, he checked his numbers from the ticket he purchased at the Quick Stop on S. Main St. in Clover. He couldn’t sleep after seeing all five numbers matched (6, 9, 14, 19, and 21). Paying the extra $1 for Power-Up increased his $100,000 winnings to $200,000 when a “2” was drawn.

“Unbelievable,” he told lottery officials.

He left with a check sure to erase his wife’s doubts.

Quick Stop received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
