Union County Mom Starts Over with $100,000 Lottery Win
7/3/2012 8:38:45 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (July 3, 2012) – This Independence Day, a Union county mom is celebrating a fresh start thanks to a $100,000 lottery win.

“Beautiful,” she said summing up the emotional moment when she beat the 1 in 312,000 odds on the $5 Muscle Car MoneyTM instant game.

She purchased the winning scratch-off from the Hot Spot on Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy in Union on her way home from work last week.

The single mom shared she works 12 hour shifts and has missed out on many of her young daughter’s firsts. That’s about to change. She’s using the winnings to start her own business so she can spend more time with her family. She’s also starting a college fund for her daughter.

“I always knew I was going to win,” she told lottery officials while awaiting her check in Columbia. “It’s still unbelievable.”

As of this release, one top prize of $100,000 remains in the $5 Muscle Car MoneyTM game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Hot Spot #2012 in Union received a commission of $1,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
