Georgia Man Leaves South Carolina a Winner
6/1/2012 11:33:00 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (June 1, 2012) – A Georgia man should visit South Carolina more often.

In November, he left the Palmetto State with a Powerball® ticket worth $10,000. This week he brought home a $100,000 winning ticket. Incidentally, both tickets were purchased in McCormick at OM Food Mart on N. Mine St.

“I’m a lucky guy in general, but I have much better luck in South Carolina,” he said.

The Augusta, GA, resident told lottery officials he bought Christmas gifts with the $10,000 winnings, but hasn’t decided what he’s going to do with the $100,000 won on the $5 Instant Carolina 5 taxes paid game.

“If this keeps up,” he grinned. “Maybe next time it will be the jackpot.”

As of this release, four top prizes of $100,000 taxes paid remain in the Instant Carolina 5 game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 500,000.

OM Food Mart received a commission of $1,471 once the ticket was claimed.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
