First day sales of Pick 3 top $557,888

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) is proud to announce this evening that first day sales of the Pick 3 game totaled $557,888.50 at the time of the live broadcast. The winning number – 049 – was successfully drawn and broadcast live at 6:59 p.m. George Godfrey, a Richland County deputy sheriff, served as the first-ever draw personality.

The SCEL paid out a total of $124,350 in winnings. According to Scientific Games International (SGI), the SCEL's instant and on-line ticket vendor, more than $83,000 went to ticket holders playing the winning numbers "straight." The remaining $40,600 was paid out in "box" plays.

According to figures provided by SGI, Pick 3 tickets at the height of sales reached $1,409 per minute.

As of 6:45 p.m., SGI estimated total daily sales, including instant tickets, at $2.2 million.

These preliminary numbers provided by SGI are subject to final verification of the SCEL's internal gaming control system.
