To Mom’s Surprise, Daughter Wins $100,000 Playing Palmetto Cash 5

COLUMBIA, SC (April 20, 2012) – The odds favored a Barnwell mom, but luck was on her daughter’s side.

The mom regularly plays Palmetto Cash 5, so when her daughter bought her first ticket and won $100,000, she didn’t take it well.

“She was mad she didn’t win,” said the daughter.

The winner, 21, told lottery officials having never played the Lottery, she decided to take a chance because her mom does. Her $1 decision beat the 1 in 501,942 odds by matching all five numbers drawn (4, 15, 18, 25, and 30) in Sunday’s Palmetto Cash 5 drawing.

“I got lucky,” she admitted.

Her mom agrees.

Sheltons 5 in Barnwell received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
