COLUMBIA, SC (April 10, 2012) – With extra cash in his pocket and a lucky feeling, a Myrtle Beach teen took a chance on a lottery ticket and won $100,000.

“Lucky me,” the 18-year-old said. “I felt good when I bought that one.”

The first person he told was his mom. He asked her for a ride to Columbia.

The two left home at 5:30 in the morning to collect the cash.

As for his plans, he’s keeping his options open.

“I’m saving it,” he said at first.

“I’ll need the cash for school,” he added.

“I don’t have a car,” he mentioned.

As of this release, one top prize of $100,000 remains in the $5 Triple the Money game.

The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 432,000.

Sunhouse Petroleum #11 in Conway received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.7 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
