COLUMBIA, SC (April 5, 2012) – A Huger man was surprised when he scratched a lottery ticket at the Publix in Mount Pleasant and won $100,000. He was shocked when he called his wife to find out, unbeknownst to him, she was a few aisles over shopping in the same store.

The couple met up outside in the parking lot, where he showed her the winning Triple the Money scratch-off and helped her with her groceries.

“Let’s not tell anyone,” he instructed.

As soon as they got home she spilled the beans to their daughter.

“We can pay off your student bills,” his wife decided.

“Wait, I’m paying off my truck,” said the man with the winning ticket.

As of this release, one top prize of $100,000 remains in the $5 Triple the Money game.

The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 432,000.

Publix Super Markets #1081 in Mount Pleasant received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
