COLUMBIA, SC (March 6, 2012) – Travis Berry’s $25,000 lottery winnings are sitting out in his driveway.

The Gaston resident bought himself a 2000 GMC truck and picked out a 2002 Nissan sport utility for his wife.

“They’re both paid for,” Berry said.

Berry told lottery officials he was on his way to work in Leesville where he manufactures firewalls for charter busses when he pulled in at the Truck Stop 44 in Gilbert. He laid down the last $5 in his pocket to buy the South Carolina Education Lottery Deluxe ticket. He wasn’t sure if the $25,000 was real.

When he got to work he asked his boss he could leave to go the Lottery’s office.

“He understood and let me go,” Berry said.

And for those at work that doubted him, the proofs in the parking lot.

As of this release, two top prizes of $25,000 remain in the $2 South Carolina Education Lottery Deluxe game.

Odds of winning $25,000 are 1 in 432,000.

Truck Stop 44 in Gilbert received a commission of $250 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
