Behind the Scenes Videos of the South Carolina Education Lottery
3/2/2012 10:01:12 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (March 2, 2012) – Have you ever wondered how the daily numbers are selected in the South Carolina Education Lottery’s Pick3, Pick4, and Palmetto Cash 5 drawings? What all exactly goes into creating the more than 500 instant ticket games the Lottery has sold since 2002? Well, the Education Lottery has two behind the scenes videos that are sure to be eye-opening.

The Lottery’s “Behind the Draw” video addresses the series of strict protocol necessary to insure the integrity of a random live draw. The lottery drawings are aired seven days a week and take only one minute to complete, but there are hours of preparation for each drawing. Everything from weighing the lottery balls to an inside look at what it’s like to pull the numbers is highlighted in the video available online at http://www.sceducationlottery.com/lottery/behindthedraw.aspx.

You can grab a coin and scratch to see if you’re a winner, but have you ever wondered how that instant ticket you’re holding was made? “From Scratch: The Life of an Instant Ticket” is a video detailing the creation of a scratcher ticket explaining everything from brainstorming to printing, from security testing to shipping, from delivery to purchase. That seemingly simple ticket sold at a lottery retailer near you, is a surprisingly complex production. Watch the video at http://www.sceducationlottery.com/lottery/SCEL_ScratchOff_Doc.aspx.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
