“Man’s Best Friend” Learns of Lottery Win Before Wife
2/9/2012 11:20:01 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (February 9, 2012) – A Columbia man let his dog out and scratched a lottery ticket while he waited. The dog came back to find his owner mumbling about winning $200,000.

The winner waited and told his wife a few days later. She was standing at the kitchen sink and wanted to know what he was grinning about. He confessed he needed to take a ticket to the Lottery’s office.

“Let me see it,” she said.

She told lottery officials her husband had been predicting a lottery win for a while, but she never believed he would actually win anything.

“She hugged me,” the winner said. “She knows she’s getting some money.”

As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 Winner Green game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 428,571.43.

Bhardwaj Travel Center in Blacksburg received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
