Two $200,000 Winning Lottery Tickets Claimed by Columbia Players

COLUMBIA, SC (February 1, 2012) Columbia has produced two $200,000 lottery winners in less than a week. A 10-minute drive separates the lottery retailers that sold the tickets.

Gaz-Bah #3 on W. Beltline Blvd. sold the first winning ticket, a Platinum Payout scratch-off, to a state worker, who plans to take some time off from his job and travel. El Cheapo on N. Main St. sold the other winning scratch-off, a Winner Green ticket, to a woman who plans to use the windfall to fix up her house.

Both winners reported to work before claiming their prize and didnt tell a soul they won.

I was all smiles, said one of the winners. I couldnt put the ticket down.

I was smiling at work all day too, said the other winner.

As of this release, two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Platinum Payout game and one top prize remains in the $10 Winner Green game.

The odds of winning $200,000 on Platinum Payout are 1 in 375,000. The odds of winning $200,000 on Winner Green are 1 in 428,571.43.

Both retailers received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed tickets.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolinas students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
