COLUMBIA, SC (January 25, 2012) – This weekend is the perfect time to break the January-doldrums by munching on more than 80,000 pounds of fresh oysters while having the opportunity to play a game with the South Carolina Education Lottery! What more can a fan of the mighty mollusk ask for?

Come join the Lottery for the 29th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival on Sunday, January 29, from 10:30 a.m. till 5 p.m. at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant. During the festival, the Lottery’s prize wheel will be spinning and shucking at the SCEL Ticket Booth! For every $10 in lottery products purchased, oyster lovers will be able to spin the fantastic prize wheel for the chance to win a lottery promotional item. The festival is “rain or shine,” so you’ll be sure to have a chance to spin the prize wheel no matter what Mother Nature decides to do.

Festival tickets are $12 in advance or can be purchased at the gate for $15. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with accompanying adults. Bring your own knives and gloves or purchase them on site. Tickets can be purchased at the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association website at http://www.charlestonrestaurantassociation.com/lowcountry-oyster-festival/. Boone Hall Plantation is located at 1235 Long Point Road in Mt. Pleasant.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
