COLUMBIA, SC (November 22, 2011) – A Columbia man and his girlfriend are getting married soon.

Winning $200,000 on a South Carolina Education Lottery ticket gives them a nice start.

“We can clear some debt and look at houses,” said the future groom.

The winner told lottery officials he doesn’t play very often, but while filling up at the Corner Pantry #149 on Garners Ferry in Columbia, he bought and scratched a Big Dollar Doubler ticket. His girlfriend could only scream when she saw the ticket.

“I told her to calm down,” he said. “There will be more scratch-offs in our future.”

As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 Big Dollar Doubler game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 288,000.

Corner Pantry #149 received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 932,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.6 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
