Lottery Win Will Wipe Out Winner’s House Payment
9/12/2011 8:50:27 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (September 12, 2011) – A lottery ticket worth $100,000 will free a Eutawville woman from her mortgage.

At home when she won on the $5 Black Pearls ticket, she ordered her husband to lock the door while she hid the ticket. She settled on the junk drawer in the kitchen; sure no one would look there for $100,000. The family dog slept by the door.

The couple is ready to exchange the lottery winnings for the deed.

“We’ll be debt free soon,” said her husband waiting on the check. “It’s a miracle.”

The Eutawville resident claimed the last top prize in the $5 Black Pearls game.

The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 480,000.

The ticket was purchased from Stricklands One Stop Inc. in Eutawville. The retailer received a commission of $1,000 for selling the ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
