North Charleston Man Is One Stunned Winner
8/26/2011 9:57:19 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (August 26, 2011) – A North Charleston man could only shake his head waiting at the window of the Columbia Claims Center for a photocopy of his winning ticket.

“I take a chance and buy a ticket when I can afford to lose,” he said.

Winning is a new feeling all together.

Yesterday, his $10 Big Dollar Doubler scratch-off ticket uncovered a $200,000 top prize. His first thought is to go back to school.

“I’m still trying to come to grips with what happened,” he told lottery officials.

Seeing the photocopied ticket in black and white may make what happened more clear.

“I’m dumbfounded,” he said.

As of this release, nine top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Big Dollar Doubler game that launched Tuesday.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 288,000.

The winner purchased his ticket from Carters Fast Stop #3 in Ridgeville. The retailer received a commission of $2,000 for selling the ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
