COLUMBIA, SC (August 16, 2011) – Working the weekend shift isn’t so bad when you can pass the time thinking up ways to spend $200,000.

A St. Matthews lottery winner pictured a family cruise, a trip to Disney World, even a new car.

She played it safe in the end.

“I’m paying bills,” she said.

“Sure there are other things I would like to do more,” she added. “But I’m doing what’s best.”

The winner told lottery officials waiting for a day off from work to claim the prize was difficult. Her chest tightened over and over again, every time she thought about the Strike It Rich ticket.

“I had a $200,000 lottery ticket in my hand,” she said with her hand over her heart. “My chest is still pounding thinking about it and the possibilities.”

As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the $10 Strike It Rich game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

She purchased the ticket from Market Place Amoco Food Shop in Cayce. The retailer received a commission of $2,000 for selling the ticket.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State through June 2012.
