Wife Laughs Off Husband’s $200,000 Lottery Win
8/2/2011 10:18:46 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (August 2, 2011) – A Taylors man told his wife he won $200,000 playing the Lottery and she laughed at him.

“I didn’t believe him,” she said. “I was dying laughing.”

Undeterred, he invited her to tag along with him to Columbia to collect the prize.

To humor him, she agreed to come and spent the whole trip telling her husband not to get too excited.

He had no doubts.

He knew he had a winner after he scratched the 20X The Money instant ticket alone in his car while enjoying a drink and a pack of crackers he picked up inside the Spinx Company #189 in Greer.

“Unbelievable,” he told lottery officials summing up the day.

The check proved him right.

As of this release, two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the ten dollar 20X The Money game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Spinx Company #189 in Greer received $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State through June 2012.
