Rock Hill Produces Two “Scratch-off” Top Prize Winners in Two Days

COLUMBIA, SC (July 12, 2011) – Rock Hill has produced two South Carolina Education Lottery top prize winners in two days!

The first winner appeared on Monday with a scratch-off ticket worth $100,000. Today a couple arrived with a winning ticket for $200,000.

After work yesterday, a Rock Hill woman and her husband scratched the $200,000 lottery ticket standing in the Cammy Express at 1397 Celanese Rd. in Rock Hill. The husband described the moment as pure shock and awe.

He was so nervous he held onto the clerk’s shirt while the $200,000 Cash ticket was scanned to make sure it was a winner.

“We didn’t sleep much last night, but I’m not even tired,” said his wife.

The couple is planning to use the winnings to start some home improvement projects.

On Monday, a Rock Hill man presented the Lottery with a $100,000 ticket he purchased over the weekend while helping his sister move. The family pulled the U-Haul over at the Easy Shop IV in Rock Hill where he bought and scratched the winning Bass Pro Shops® instant ticket.

He is planning to use the winning to move into his own place.

The two retailers, Cammy Express and Easy Shop IV, are located less than 15 minutes apart in Rock Hill.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Easy Shop IV received $1,000 and Cammy Express $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
