Blythewood Couple Keeps a Lid on $200,000 Lottery Win
7/8/2011 3:58:49 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (July 8, 2011) – With the entire family gathered for burgers, BBQ and fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July last weekend, a Blythewood couple didn’t share their good news.

That morning, the two bought a lottery ticket, scratched and won $200,000.

“It was the best Fourth ever,” the wife said.

Before guests arrived, the couple made the call to not tell anyone about the winning 20X The Money ticket.

“We’ll tell them next year,” the winners told lottery officials.

As of this release, four top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 20X The Money game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

E-Z Shop #11 in Orangeburg received $2,000, a 1 percent commission when the ticket was claimed.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
