Cool Character Wins $100,000 on Palmetto Cash 5

COLUMBIA, SC (June 28, 2011) – A Greenwood man is taking his $100,000 lottery win in stride.

“I feel fine,” he said when he cashed in the Palmetto Cash 5 ticket yesterday.

He told lottery officials he didn’t scream or jump up and down. He called his wife.

She is the first to tell you her husband is not the type to get worked up, not even over $100,000.

He does have a sense of humor about him though.

When she answered the phone, he wanted her to guess why he was calling.

She guessed wrong.

“She thought I was running off at the mouth,” he said.

His quick picked ticket (6, 8, 14, 35, and 36) for Friday night’s Palmetto Cash 5 drawing spent the weekend in his dresser drawer. He left it there, only looking at the ticket when he needed something from the drawer.

“I’m going to do some things I’ve been wanting to do,” he said.

The odds of winning the top prize playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.

Had he spent the extra $1 for Power-Up, his $100,000 winnings would have tripled to $300,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Greenwood Petroleum #105 in Greenwood received $1,000.
