Spartanburg Roofer Wins $200,000
5/18/2011 8:47:12 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (May 18, 2011) – A Spartanburg roofer has won $200,000 playing “Cash Blowout.”

His coworkers at Cannon Roofing in Spartanburg have been teasing him since finding out.

“The guys have been kidding me nonstop, saying things like they’re going to come and live with me or asking why I’m still working,” he said.

The winner has taken the teasing in stride, even waiting a week to cash the ticket so he wouldn’t miss work.

He plans to use the winnings to purchase some rental property and pay off some land he owns.

As of this release, one top prize of $200,000 remains in the Cash Blowout game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 440,000.

Tornados in Boiling Springs received $2,000, a 1 percent retailer commission, when the prize was paid.

The Lottery reminds all players to sign the back of any ticket, even tickets that have a wait before a drawing, to help ensure the winner receives his or her prize.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
