SCEL exceeds $100 million in ticket sales
2/15/2002

Columbia, SC:  The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) has surpassed $100 million dollars in estimated ticket sales 39 days after launching the instant ticket games. That's an average of over 2.5 million dollars of ticket sales per day.

"This has exceeded everyone's expectations of the South Carolina Education Lottery", says SCEL's Chief Operating Officer, Tony Cooper. "I've worked in the lottery industry for nearly 10 years. These numbers are impressive".

The SCEL currently offers seven (7) instant games.  To date, the SCEL has depleted its ticket inventory of four (4) games, the Logo Game, Scenic South Carolina, Solid Gold, and Carolina Riches. Some of these games can still be found in lottery retail stores.  The SCEL has reordered the Solid Gold and Bonus Bucks games.  A second reorder of 10 million tickets for the 3 Times Lucky game is pending with the SCEL's vendor, Scientific Games International.

"This is a good problem to have", Cooper says. "We can't keep tickets in stock at our warehouse".
