$218 MILLION Powerball® Drawing Tonight
4/6/2011 10:58:03 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (April 6, 2011) – An estimated $218 million Powerball® jackpot doesn’t come around too often. In fact, it has been 10 months since the Powerball® jackpot eclipsed $200 million.

“Tonight’s $218 million Powerball® jackpot registers in the top 10 Powerball® jackpots of all time,” the South Carolina Education Lottery’s Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea, said.

“What makes this even more extraordinary is that this impressive Powerball® run comes on the heels of a $319 Mega Millions® jackpot,” Bethea added. “This is an exciting time for the Education Lottery and its players, but we want to remind everyone to please play responsibly. When you spend the extra $1 for a ticket, even if you don’t win, education always wins.”

The odds of winning the Powerball® jackpot are 1 in 195,249,054.

South Carolinians wanting to take a chance on Wednesday night’s drawing must purchase their Powerball® tickets by 9:59 p.m. for the 10:59 p.m. drawing.

Tickets are $1 and are available at lottery retailers statewide. Players can purchase PowerPlay® for an extra $1 to multiply their non-jackpot winnings by the PowerPlay® number drawn. Match 5 white balls with PowerPlay® win an automatic $1 million, regardless of the multiplier selected.
