Rock Hill Woman Celebrates Her Birthday with $100,000 Lottery Win

COLUMBIA, SC (March 23, 2011) – A Rock Hill woman is celebrating her birthday with the typical family dinner at a nice restaurant and cake. With a mouth full of food, she hopes she won’t let it slip she won $100,000 on a lottery scratch-off.

“I don’t want to tell anyone,” she told lottery officials. “But keeping this a secret has been really, really hard.”

She gifted herself the $5 Money Multiplier ticket last week. And if anyone asks, her tax refund paid for the new washer, dryer, and 50-inch flat screen TV.

“I hate to lie about it,” she said. “This is the best birthday present ever! All of my birthdays together haven’t added up to this.”

Keeping quiet has not only tested her patience, but her sanity.

“I hid the ticket in my car, but I kept running out to check on it,” she said. “This experience has been something else. I don’t see how people can stand to be rich.”

As of this release, two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the Money Multiplier game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 540,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Quick C #106 in Rock Hill received $1,000.
