Edgefield Woman Wins $1 MILLION and Celebrates Becoming Debt Free
3/15/2011 10:19:45 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (March 15, 2011) – An Edgefield woman called her husband with good news.

“We are debt free,” she screamed when he picked up.

His response: “Did you win the Lottery?”

Yes, she did.

She scratched a Carolina Millionaires Club ticket and won $1 MILLION. Alone in her car with the ticket, her first impulse was to lock the doors. Then she called her husband, who knows his wife all too well.

“I’m so excited we are out of debt!” the winner said clapping her hands.

The millionaire, who did not want to release her name, shared another plan for the winnings— early retirement.

“Edisto Beach sounds good to me,” she said.

The $10 Carolina Millionaires Club instant ticket went on sale January 4. The Edgefield woman is the third $1 million winner to come forward. As of this release, two more $1 million top prizes remain in the game. The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 1,200,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Circle K Stores #3184 in North Augusta received $10,000.
