With the Help of a Stranger, a McBee Man Claims $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (January 28, 2011) – A McBee man stopped for a bite at Jimmy’s Mart. Famous for its hotdogs, the man ordered three and then decided to take a chance playing the Lottery.

He chose three tickets. The first one didn’t win anything, but the second ticket made up for the first.

“What I saw on the ticket took my breath away,” the winner said.

He was staring at a Maximum Money instant ticket good for $200,000.

The winner told lottery officials he was so excited by the win he didn’t know if he could make it across town to the claims office to collect his winnings. That’s when a fellow lottery player inside Jimmy’s Mart offered him a ride.

“I could tell the fellow wasn’t in any shape to drive,” said the good Samaritan, who gave the winner a lift. “I called his wife for him, so he could tell her the news.”

The winner, who did not want to release his name, plans to buy himself a truck and a tractor with the winnings.

What about the third ticket he purchased? Well, he gave it to the man that drove him to claim the prize.

“I hope he has good luck,” the winner said.

As of this release, the $10 Maximum Money instant ticket has two top prizes of $200,000 remaining in the game. The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 428,571.

Jimmy’s Mart received $2,000. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.
