West Columbia Woman is 1 of 25 National $200,000 Powerball® Winners

COLUMBIA, SC (December 3, 2010) – A West Columbia woman is happy she won $200,000 playing Powerball®. She does have one regret, though.

“If I had just had that Powerball® number right, I could have won the jackpot,” she told lottery officials. “I’m happy, but I could have been really, really happy.”

The retired, West Columbia resident missed out on the $95.3 million jackpot but was a part of a stellar night for Powerball® players nationally.

Wednesday night’s drawing produced a higher-than-anticipated number of big winners according to Powerball®. Not only was the jackpot won in Arizona, but nine players across the nation won $1 million with PowerPlay® and another 25 won $200,000.

South Carolina’s $200,000 winner, who did not want to release her name, matched all five white ball numbers drawn (5, 10, 11, 12, and 20 PB: 2). Had she purchased PowerPlay® for an additional $1, her winnings would have been multiplied to $1 MILLION.

The winner feels like she should put most of the $200,000 aside but will use a small portion to do some traveling.

For selling the winning ticket Best Stop #2 in West Columbia received a check for $2,000. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.

The estimated Powerball® jackpot for Saturday night's drawing is $20 million.
