Second Chance Pays Off for Charlotte Woman
12/1/2010 9:14:49 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (December 1, 2010) – Antionette Anderson believes in second chances. When the Charlotte, NC, woman scratched a Wheel of Fortune® instant ticket and didn’t win, she didn’t give up.

Anderson entered the ticket in the Lottery’s Wheel of Fortune® Second-Chance Promotion and waited. Out of the more than 91,000 entries received, her seemingly worthless ticket was selected as the $100,000 winner. Anderson was notified following the final drawing on Friday, November 19.

“I’m still in shock,” Anderson told lottery officials. “I have been blessed.”

Anderson drove down to pick up the check on her day off. She works for the American Red Cross, an organization built on giving second chances to those that need it most. In her capacity, she schedules platelet donations. Platelets are use in lifesaving treatments for cancer and transplant patients.

She has been taking the bus to work, but she plans to use the winnings to buy a car.

“This is the nicest Christmas gift ever,” she shared. “I love a second chance.”

In addition to the $100,000 prize, the Wheel of Fortune® Second-Chance Promotion awarded five trips to Hollywood, CA. Each trip included an audition for a chance to be a contestant on TV’s Wheel of Fortune®. For more details, visit sceducationlottery.com.
