Group of Four Claims $1 MILLION Raffle Prize
11/22/2010 9:10:14 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (November 22, 2010) – A group of four has claimed the first $1 million prize on a Millionaire Raffle ticket purchased from the Kangaroo Express #453 on Rosewood Dr. in Columbia.

A Columbia resident claimed the prize on behalf of the group and requested her name not be released. “I am grateful and blessed,” she shared. “My plans are to just relax.”

The $100,000 prize on a raffle ticket sold at the Bi-Lo #65 on Garners Ferry Rd. in Columbia has also been claimed. The winner, also from Columbia, spotted her winning raffle number on the evening news.

“Unbelievable,” she said with a smile. “The glory goes to God.”

She did not want publicity and told lottery officials she was only in Bi-Lo to pick up fair passes when she noticed a sign promoting the raffle. The ticket she purchased will now fund her daughter’s college education. She also plans to make a donation to her church.

The winner of a second $1 million winning raffle ticket (#00165290) sold at Kangaroo Express #912 in Ridgeland still has not come forward. A raffle ticket (#00018546) worth $100,000 purchased in Greenville from the Spinx Company Inc. #127 on Roper Mountain Road remains unclaimed.

Raffle winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. Winners are encouraged to sign their ticket backs and secure the tickets.

A complete list of winning Millionaire Raffle numbers is available on the Lottery’s website at sceducationlottery.com.
For selling the ticket, Kangaroo Express #453 received $10,000 and Bi-Lo #65 received $1,000. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.
