Columbia, SC: The results of the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL)'s sales figures for the second week of operations, is based on information provided by Scientific Games International. The information is based on activity ending on January 20th, 2002. To date, the estimated total number of tickets sales, based on validations, is $38.2 million.

The number of individuals claiming prizes:
January 7 to January 13, 2002: 3,048,916
January 14 to January 20, 2002: 3,196,565
Total: 6,245,481

The dollar value of prizes paid:
January 7 to January 13, 2002: $10,870,318
January 14 to January 20, 2002: $11,249,569
Total: $22,119,887

Estimated sales:
*January 7 to January 13, 2002: $19,126,676
*January 14 to January 20, 2002: $19,148,650
Total: $38,275,326

*These numbers are based on an estimate of winning ticket validations in each pack. The source is Scientific Games International. The SCEL believes this is a reasonable estimating sales based on standard industry practices. These numbers reflect business through the close of Sunday, January 20, 2002.
