10/28/2010 11:39:00 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (October 29, 2010) – The South Carolina Education Lottery has announced there will be no ticket sales or validations on Election Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

All lottery terminals will be off-line from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on November 2. South Carolina law prohibits the sale of all lottery products, both instant and online games, on statewide election days.

Players visiting at any of the Lottery’s claims centers on Election Day will have their winnings mailed to them.

Lottery drawings will take place as normally scheduled.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
