COLUMBIA, SC (August 27, 2010) – A fishing trip to South Carolina reeled in a huge prize for a 66-year-old player. Paul Nunley, from Kingsport, TN, bought a Cash Frenzy ticket and won $100,000 instantly!
“My wife asked me to buy some lottery tickets, so I picked up a few of them. I liked the looks of the Cash Frenzy.” That purchase soon revealed a $100,000 prize. “This is pretty exciting,” the lucky retiree said.
Nunley plans on saving the money, but ultimately he says his wife will decide how to spend it.
Nunley purchased his winning ticket from Kangaroo Express #3059 on S. Kings Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent commission, capped at $50,000. Kangaroo Express #3059 received a $1,000 retailer commission.
Cash Frenzy is a $5 ticket with more than $4 million in prizes remaining, including two top prizes of $100,000.
Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
