NC Woman Wins $10,000 on SC Education Lottery Tick
1/8/2002

Columbia, SC (January 8, 2002)– A North Carolinian woman won $10,000 on an SC Education Lottery ticket today.  Gail Bolen of Gastonia, NC bought the winning Carolina Riches ticket shortly before noon today at a Shop n Save in Clover, SC.  Bolen redeemed the ticket with her husband, George Bolen, at the Columbia Redemption Center located at 1901 Main Street at 4:45pm.

Bolen bought the ticket because she was depressed about her car needing a new motor and bought the ticket to cheer herself up, hoping to win some amount of money.  “It means a lot, it means a whole   lot.  I wouldn’t believe it in a million years,” said an ecstatic Bolen.  “I still don’t believe it.”

Bolen had tried to buy tickets at the Shop n Save the night before, but the store had sold out.  She then returned today to make her ticket purchases.
