First Mega Millions® Drawing Airs on SC TV Stations
2/3/2010 12:01:37 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (February 3, 2010) – Players in South Carolina tuned into the first ever Mega Millions® drawing airing in the state last night at 11:00. Mega Millions® and Powerball® are now jointly played in 33 lottery jurisdictions reaching a total population of 200 million.
“The addition of Mega Millions® to our roster of games was a monumental undertaking, with tight security requirements and a tight structure around the game,” said South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea. “South Carolina was ready, as were the other participating states, and the Mega Millions® drawing took place without a hitch.”
The winning numbers in the February 2 drawing were 6, 7, 26, 27 and 49. The Mega Ball was 9 and the Megaplier® was 4. No one matched all six numbers to win the $12 million jackpot. More than 7,400 winning tickets were sold in South Carolina, including 3,133 winners who paid the extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier®, which multiplied their winnings by 4. The estimated Mega Millions® jackpot for Friday night’s drawing is $20 million.
The live Mega Millions® drawings take place at a TV studio in Atlanta, GA. SCEL draw partner television stations around the Palmetto State air the drawings via satellite.
