COLUMBIA, SC (September 24, 2009) – “I had to take a double look at the ticket,” said the Myrtle Beach player who won $100,000 playing Bags of Cash and could not believe what he was seeing!
The winner, who asked that his name not be publicized, said luck is definitely on his side.
“When you’re hot, you’re hot,” the gentleman joked at the Columbia Claims Center. The winner and his wife plan to use some of the $100,000 to take a well deserved vacation.
The couple bought the Bags of Cash instant ticket at Kangaroo Express #3418 in Surfside Beach. A retailer who sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more receives a 1 percent selling bonus. Kangaroo Express #3418, located at 11 Highway 17 North, received a $1,000 check. The selling bonus is capped at $50,000.
Bags of Cash is a $10 instant ticket with 11 top prizes still left in the game. More than $15 million in total prizes is remaining.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2.2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2010. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
