Lucky Newberry Retailer Sells $1 Million Ticket!

COLUMBIA, SC (August 28, 2009) – Luck struck in Newberry when a Cash Bonanza Bonus instant ticket revealed a $1 million prize!
Country Peddler, located at 367 Wilson Road, sold the ticket. The player, who scratched the lucky ticket, claimed the prize but asked his name not be publicized.
A retailer who sells a claimed ticket worth $10,000 or more receives a 1 percent selling bonus. Country Peddler received a $10,000 bonus.
Cash Bonanza Bonus is a $10 instant ticket with approximately $35 million in total prizes remaining in the game.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2.2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2010. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
