COLUMBIA, SC (May 27, 2009) – The decision to buy a $10 Mega Jumbo Bucks lottery ticket resulted in a $200,000 instant win for an Aiken area woman!
The player, who doesn’t want to publicize her name, is thrilled about her big prize and is anxious to share it.
“I can help my family,” she said. “I’ll share the money with them, and I think I’ll take my grandkids to Disney,” the winner added.
The lucky grandmother purchased her ticket at Star Mini Mart in Aiken. The retailer who sells a claimed ticket worth more than $10,000 receives a one percent selling bonus. Star Mini Mart received $2,000.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery was returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
