2/2/2009 3:07:02 PM

COLUMBIA, SC (February 2, 2009) – Palmetto Cash 5 players are on a winning streak! Just last week, four Palmetto Cash 5 top prizes were won, making this the biggest week in terms of the number of top prize winners since the game was launched in February 2005!
The top prize for Palmetto Cash 5 is $100,000. If a player spends an additional dollar to purchase the Power-Up option, he or she can multiply the top prize up to five times depending on the Power-Up number selected.
Recent Palmetto Cash 5 top prizes include a $100,000 win from the January 26 drawing (ticket sold in Columba); two, $200,000 top prizes for the January 28 drawing (tickets sold in Greenville and Greenwood); and a $300,000 prize from the January 30 drawing (ticket sold in Williamston). The $200,000 Palmetto Cash 5 ticket sold at Royal 8 in Greenwood remains unclaimed.
The total won in last week’s five Palmetto Cash 5 drawings was $916,685, with 26,343 winners of prizes from $1 up to the top prize.
Palmetto Cash 5 drawings are held Monday through Friday at 6:59 p.m. and are televised live on the South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) draw partner stations around the state. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 501,942.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
