COLUMBIA, SC (January 27, 2009) – Dreams may come true! Just ask Linder Stroman, of Winnsboro, what happened when she played Palmetto Cash 5 and won the top prize of $100,000!
“I had a dream about winning the Lottery back in December,” she said. “In my dream, my deceased father told me we had won the Lottery, and he showed me the winning numbers. I started playing Palmetto Cash 5 using those numbers, and this time I won the big prize,” Stroman added. “I just knew I would win someday. I could feel it in my bones,” the lucky player said.
The 46-year-old winner purchased her winning ticket at North Main Beer & Wine in Columbia. The winning numbers in the January 26 Palmetto Cash 5 drawing were 5, 16, 24, 35 and 37. The Power-Up multiplier was 4. Odds of winning a top prize in Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 501,942.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
