COLUMBIA, SC (September 30, 2008) – A 74-year-old, Anderson County man is thanking his lucky stars as well as his Carolina Millionaires Club instant ticket! The game just scored him a $1 million prize!
The player, who wants to keep his identity private, was speechless when the ticket made him an instant millionaire. “I didn’t know what to do first. But I definitely will share the money with my family,” the man said.
The Upstate winner says he plays the Lottery frequently, but he stresses he plays responsibly. “I’ve won a few times before. A $10,000 prize here or there,” he laughed.
The lucky man purchased his ticket at Sav-A-Stop #206519 in Starr.
What advice does the new millionaire have for naysayers who claim no one wins the Lottery? “You can’t win if you don’t play,” he chuckled.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 280 instant games and six online games. Currently, SCEL offers 39 instant games and five online games. SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1-$10. During the past six and a half years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009.
