COLUMBIA, SC (September 2, 2008) – Someone is holding a MegaMatch 6 ticket worth a record-breaking $1.4 million! The lucky ticket was purchased at McColl Food Pantry in McColl.
The winning numbers in the Friday, August 29 drawing were 4, 7, 12, 22, 34, and 35. The $1.4 million MegaMatch 6 jackpot is the largest jackpot since the game began in February. In addition to the jackpot, there were more than 9,000 lower-tier prize winners of $7 to $5,000 in Friday night’s drawing.
The last time the MegaMatch 6 jackpot was hit was on June 6. The $1,110,104 jackpot winning ticket was sold at Lil Store on South Cherokee Street in Blacksburg. Since launch more than $9.5 million has been paid out to MegaMatch 6 winners.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 280 instant games and six online games. Currently, SCEL offers approximately 40 instant games and five online games. SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1-$10. During the past six and a half years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009.
