COLUMBIA, SC (August 28, 2008) – When Mark Cariello stepped inside Scotchman #225 in Myrtle Beach and bought a $5 lottery ticket, he didn’t know he’d walk out of the store $100,000 richer! That’s exactly what happened when the lucky player purchased a $100,000 Super Cash ticket.
“I couldn’t believe it when I won that much money,” Cariello said.
How does the Myrtle Beach resident plan to use his prize? “This money will make life a little bit easier since I have five children,” Cariello said. His entire family will enjoy a new Jacuzzi he hopes to have built!
Cariello says one of the reasons he plays the Lottery is its support of education.
Launched June 11, $100,000 Super Cash is the South Carolina Education Lottery’s first instant ticket printed on holographic paper.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 280 instant games and six online games. Currently, SCEL offers approximately 40 instant games and five online games. SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1-$10. During the past six and a half years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009.
