$35 POWERBALL® JACKPOT HIT IN SOUTH CAROLINA!

COLUMBIA, SC (May 18, 2008) – It’s the talk of the town! Who won the $35 million Powerball® jackpot? A player in the Palmetto State holds the ticket that correctly matched all five white ball numbers, plus the red Powerball®, to win the $35 million Powerball® jackpot!
The winning numbers in the Saturday, May 17 drawing were 12, 14, 15, 21, and 43. The Powerball® was 30 and the PowerPlay® multiplier number drawn was 3.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the South Carolina Education Lottery and the holder of the winning Powerball® ticket,” said Ernie Passailaigue, Executive Director of SCEL. “The last time a Powerball® jackpot was won in South Carolina was in April 2007 in Florence for $15 million. I’d say it’s about time our state hit the big jackpot again! We are looking forward to meeting the newest Powerball® millionaire!”
The ticket was purchased in West Columbia. The name of the retailer is not being announced at this time. The ticket holder has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the Powerball® prize. The jackpot must be claimed at the Columbia Claims Center. The hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A winning Powerball® ticket, matching all five white ball numbers, but not the red Powerball®, was also sold in South Carolina. This player purchased the PowerPlay® multiplier resulting in winnings of $600,000! That ticket was purchased in Honea Path. A total of 18,912 players in SC won prizes from $3 up to the jackpot in this Powerball® drawing!
